Getting to
Hermosa Cove

Hermosa Cove finds its home in lovely Ocho Rios, Jamaica – a city on the north coast. If you are a local and just need driving directions, click on the map button below; however, if you’re arriving internationally, we want your arrival to be as enjoyable as your stay. This is important to us, because as they often say – “the worst part of traveling is the traveling.” So we want to make it all seamless, from the door of your airplane to the door of your villa.

Breaking it Down

For those of you who love lists

Choosing an Airport

Jamaica is currently home to two major international airports – Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay Jamaica and Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston. Both are fantastic, modern, full service airports.

Montego Bay (MJB)

Sangster International is great if you’re coming from up North or from the West – USA or Canada for example. Montego Bay to Ocho Rios is about a two hour drive across Jamaican’s North Coast.

Kingston (KIN)

Norman Manley International is ideal if you’re coming from the South or from the East – Europe for example. Kingston to Ocho Rios is a little over an hour drive through the lush area of central Jamaica.

Ian Flemming (OCJ)

Ian Flemming is a smaller international airport outside of Ocho Rios – meaning customs are quick, the wait is short, and the drive to Hermosa Cove is just a quick 20 minutes. The drawback is that this newer airport doesn’t have the same traffic yet. International flights are primarily through Miami and tend to be a bit more expensive.

Pre-Flight Customs Forms

To help make customs quick and easy, the Jamaican government has digitized their C5 form process – which is great – if you know about it before hand. Often times your departing airport will let you know this is an option while waiting at your gate – which is great – except airport WiFi is never great and forms are difficult to fill out on your phone.

So we encourage our guests to fill out this form early from the comfort of your own home.

You’ll need to fill out one form for each of your travelers; however, you can use the same email address for each entry.

In the form, you’ll need …

  • Passport details,
  • Flight details (i.e. Flight Number),
  • And Hermosa’s destination address …
    Hermosa Cove Resort
    Hermosa Lane; Pineapple
    Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

You’ll receive a confirmation email after submission. Because this is connected to your passport number, the email might not be required during your customs process, but it’s still wise to have it handy and available just in case.

Club Mobay / Club Kingston

If you’re flying into Montego Bay or Kingston, Jamaica’s VIP Attractions provides services to ease your arrival and/or departure. From the moment you step off the airplane you’ll be met with your own, personal concierge to whisk you through customs, take a short break in their private lounge for a drink and a bite to eat, then send you on your way to Hermosa Cove.

Depending on the time of day (especially mid-afternoon), there can be serval incoming international flights, causing quite a bit of congestion in customs. In this case, we highly recommend purchasing this service. A fair warning, service is limited so be sure to book early!

Oh, and of course, there’s nothing quite like having someone holding a sign with your name on it.

Getting Through Customs

Taking your turn through customs is simply a time consuming task; necessary for the safety of travelers and of Jamaica. We encourage you to be patient and respectful of the other travelers and staff members around you.

Be prepared to first stop at a digital kiosk to scan your passport and take a photo. The machine will print you off a ticket that you can take to the customs stations. Here they’ll ask you the typical questions to confirm you are who you say you are and that you’re visiting for pleasure.

If you’ve purchased Club Mobay or Club Kingston services, this process will go much quicker.

Getting Your Bags

If you’ve flown on an airplane before, you’ve likely gathered your bags from the luggage carousel. The only difference here is that you’ll need to check them through a final customs agent to ensure you’re not carrying any questionable items.

Your Driver

We would love to set you up with your own personal driver to take you from the airport to Hermosa Cove. We choose the best local drivers; ones who are safe, cordial, knowledgeable about the area (ask questions about Jamaica!), and most have a great sense of humor.

Once you’ve finished stepping through customs; you’ll find several kiosks for travel services – make your way to the exit where you’ll find drivers for several different resorts around the area. Look for the one carrying the sign that says Hermosa Cove! Introduce yourself and he’ll take your bags and take care of you.

If you choose to rent your own car or have arranged other transportation; click below for driving directions and be sure to read the “Arriving at Hermosa” section near the bottom of this page.

Driving the North Coast

If you fly into Montego Bay, your trip to Ocho Rios will take you along the North Coast – a popular tourist destination that offers a blend of stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture, and exciting adventures. Stretching from Montego Bay to Port Antonio, you’ll travel past pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and quaint Jamaican villages.

Kingston to Ochi

As you leave the airport, your journey begins along the scenic Palisadoes main road, a slender stretch of land embracing the sea on one side and the Kingston Harbour on the other.

This coastal route links the airport to the storied city of Port Royal—once the richest city in the world before much of it sank beneath the waves during a massive earthquake in June 1692.

From here, the road carries you through the heart of Downtown Kingston, then onto the Mandela and Edward Seaga highways.

As you descend into the lush northern coast, the sparkling Caribbean Sea comes into view—a breathtaking sign that Ocho Rios is near. Depending on traffic, you’ll arrive in just about 90 minutes, welcomed by the vibrant charm and natural beauty of the island’s north shore.

Arriving at Hermosa

If you’re driving yourself, Hermosa Cove is at the end of Hermosa Lane – a small, little drive whose entrance is right next to the True Value hardware store (now you’ll sound like a local).

You’ll step through security and take in your first experience of our hand crafted beauty. From here on out, we get to take care of you … and honestly … doing so is our true joy.Â
