Compelled. We were compelled to build a villa right on the cove, tucked into the forest, directly on the water. Looking across the water the location was clear, there needed to be a villa embedded into the monolithic rock on the far side of the cove, near the large beach. So we began working with no formal plan; we would begin at the base and let the character of the rock define the life of the villa. What arose was a three story villa that lives in the cliff, lovingly called Nautilus.
The view from the top floor’s master bedroom is magnificent. It looks through the trees out over the water. The private pier that extends from the first floor living area is a perfect place to watch the sunset with a glass a wine.
All of Hermosa Cove is beautiful and creative, but even here, Nautilus is a memorable, one of a kind stay.
